Not knowing where your pet is or how to get them back can be a helpless, hopeless feeling for all involved pet included. Microchipping address’s these issues with a simple, safe, and inexpensive method to help with your pet’s safe and timely return should they ever become lost.

A tag on a collar can be a helpful way of having your lost pet returned to you after they are lost. Here at the Peaceable Kingdom we help reunite multiple pets with their owners yearly because the pet had our rabies tag on it and we could look up the owner by it and provide it to the person who found their dog. However, collars are more common on dogs than cats but even so dogs often shed their collars and are also left unidentifiable because of this fact.

Microchipping is a standard procedure that implants a tiny grain of rice sized chip underneath your pet’s skin in the area between the shoulder blades. It is a painless and relatively fast procedure and is completely safe. Also, if your dog is microchipped, it will qualify for a lifetime permanent license. Unlike a tattoo or notch in the ear the microchip code has a national database registry and cannot be altered. As you might already know a tattoo’s ink will fade over time and become unreadable. Here at the Peaceable Kingdom Animal Hospital we offer the DataMars Petlink microchip.  We chose this microchip service due to their uncomplicated registration process for owners, lifetime registration for pets with lifetime updates at no extra cost, smaller chip and needle for a more comfortable implantation process that its competitors.  It is also a more affordable chip, so we are able to offer the implant and chip for only $30.  This is part of our commitment to caring for your pets!
