Dr. Paul received his undergraduate degree from New York Lehman College majoring in Biology and Physical Anthropology. He obtained a Masters of Biomedical Science degree from Wagner College and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mississippi State University. Finally, he completed a rotating Internship in small animal medicine and Surgery at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine.
After extensive and diverse academic training, he worked at several Small Animal Hospitals across the State of Pennsylvania, before opening the doors of The Peaceable Kingdom Animal Hospital in 1997, serving Ephrata, Lititz, Manheim, and surrounding Lancaster counties.
Since then his practice has grown and continues to provide comprehensive, exceptional care to all patients in a clear and concise manner. He tailors and individualizes each patient’s care and provides clients with alternative treatment plans with tiered options of care for patients that considers quality of life, affordability and desires of the owners.
Occasionally, a cat will find his or her way to the clinic in need of a new loving home. In these instances, Dr. Cappiello has generously offered to take them in and give them temporary shelter, tending to all their veterinary needs, and with the help of our rescue coordinator and Petfinder.com, finds them wonderful new pet parents to give them the loving homes they deserve. It is this type of compassion and commitment that sets Dr. Cappiello and The Peaceable Kingdom Animal Hospital apart.

Covid 19 Appointment Preparedness Guidelines! We cannot wait to see you! Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic we are following the guidelines set forth for us by the CDC and the PVMA. Regardless of the phases the counties move into, we must consider our smaller waiting area and exam rooms, as well as the potential for compromising our Dr and Staff, as well as the potential risk for exposure for you, our clients. Our ultimate goal is the safety and health of everyone. Below are the guidelines we have put into place for all clients. Please follow these to the best of your ability. If you require additional accommodations due to health concerns, please contact our office and we will work with you the best we can. 1. All clients must wear a face covering while interacting with our staff and doctor unless medically deemed unable to. Please be considerate. 2. Schedule your appointment when you know you have time to dedicate to your appointment. If you have other appointments you know you must make, let our staff know. We will help you plan your appointment appropriately. 3. Arrive on time. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early. We bring appointments in by their scheduled times, not by who arrives first. The schedule is designed to keep us on track. The only exceptions are for emergencies. 4. If we are running behind, we will communicate this with you. This is often because of a sick pet who has required more care or sadly a pet that in the end, needed to be put to sleep and his family is saying goodbye. Please be understanding, as we have all been there. If this causes an issue for you time wise, please let us know and we will be happy to reschedule you. 5. If you are running late, please call us. If you are going to be more than 5 minutes late and our schedule cannot accommodate, we will have to reschedule you. If you show up more than 5 minutes late and our schedule cannot accommodate you, we will have to reschedule you. If you have a sick pet, we will direct you to PETS emergency. 6. Remain in your vehicle and call us when you arrive. Do not come to the door or knock on the window. 7. Keep your cell phone free for us to call you throughout your appointment. We need to be able to communicate with you often and quickly to keep your appointment on time. 8. Keep your air conditioning running. For you and your pet’s safety 9. Do not roam the property and interact with other clients and their pets. Pets are stressed and can be unpredictable, many are ill when visiting, and could be contagious. We also MUST maintain social distancing. 10. DO NOT LEAVE the premises while your pet is in the building. We cannot stress this enough. This is not a drop off service. You need to remain on the property until the end of your appointment unless you are leaving your pet for a surgery appointment. 11. Please leave small children who may not be able to tolerate sitting in the car for a long period of time with a sitter or at home with a family member whenever possible. 12. If you are scheduled for euthanasia, you will be able to come in to be with your pet. You will prepay, and we will have you sign for everything prior to coming into the building. You must wear a face mask to be present with your pet. We are sorry, but there are no exceptions for this. Please also maintain distancing with our staff during this time. You may remain with your pet until you feel comfortable letting them go. We will do everything we can to make this difficult time as easy as possible for you.
We are just as eager as everyone else for this pandemic to be declared over, and for us to be able to go back to allowing our clients into the building in a normal fashion, or as close to normal as can be allowed for the future. However, as we are seeing, even as counties and states open, numbers continue to increase with positive cases of this virus, and we want to be sure that we can be here to provide care for your pets. Please be patient and be kind. Our staff, our Doctor and our management are all acting in your best interests and want everyone to remain healthy. Again, we thank you for entrusting us with the care of your beloved family member. We will do all that we can to honor your trust.
Sincerely, Dr. Paul Cappiello, DVM and the Management and Staff of Peaceable Kingdom Animal Hospital

How may we be of service?
Whether your pet is in need of a routine check-up or a more extensive diagnostic work up and even including most soft tissue surgeries Dr. Paul and his support staff have become for decades an affordable quality pet health care asset to a wide area of Lancaster County.
Wellness & Preventative Care
Having regular checkups and wellness exams can be a critical component to help extend your pet’s longevity!
Regular oral care for your pet offers the same prevention as a visit to your own dentist. Teeth-cleaning removes hardened plaque (bacteria) and tartar that can become detrimental to your pet’s overall health.
Another great visit for my cat Maggie Mae. Dr. Paul and his staff are wonderful and caring. Been bringing my cats here for years and was never disappointed with the care I received for my cats. Thank you Dr. Paul and staff
