Dr. Paul J Cappiello, MS DVM

Dr. Paul received his undergraduate degree from New York Lehman College majoring in Biology and Physical Anthropology. He obtained a Masters of Biomedical Science degree from Wagner College and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mississippi State University. Finally, he completed a rotating Internship in small animal medicine and Surgery at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine.

After extensive and diverse academic training, he worked at several Small Animal Hospitals across the State of Pennsylvania, before opening the doors of The Peaceable Kingdom Animal Hospital in 1997, serving Ephrata, Lititz, Manheim, and surrounding Lancaster counties.

Since then his practice has grown and continues to provide comprehensive, exceptional care to all patients in a clear and concise manner. He tailors and individualizes each patient’s care and provides clients with alternative treatment plans with tiered options of care for patients that considers quality of life, affordability and desires of the owners.

Occasionally, a cat will find his or her way to the clinic in need of a new loving home. In these instances, Dr. Cappiello has generously offered to take them in and give them temporary shelter, tending to all their veterinary needs, and with the help of our rescue coordinator and Petfinder.com, finds them wonderful new pet parents to give them the loving homes they deserve. It is this type of compassion and commitment that sets Dr. Cappiello and The Peaceable Kingdom Animal Hospital apart.

Dr. Jose Venereo, DVM

Dr. Venereo, who prefers to be called Dr. Jose, has been with us since the Spring of 2023. Originally from Cuba, Dr. Jose grew up in Puerto Rico. He attended the University of Puerto Rico and moved to Philadelphia, where he completed his Masters in Lab Animal Science. He then went on to Ohio State University, where he completed his Veterinary degree in 1996. Since that time, he was the owner of Noah’s Ark Veterinary Center in Harrisburg until its sale in 2015. Afterward, he started a new venture as a relief doctor with his own service – Veterinary Relief Services of Central PA.

He enjoys surgery and dentistry, making lasting relationships with clients and their pets. Dr. Jose brings a gentle, respectful, and practical approach to veterinary medicine, which is the core value of Peaceable Kingdom Animal Hospital. We are delighted that he decided to join our veterinary family.

In his free time, Dr. Jose enjoys spoiling his Chihuahua, Giogio, as well as singing and playing the guitar. Recently, he has developed an interest in freshwater aquariums and ecosystems.

Dr. Erin Murphy, DVM

Dr. Erin Murphy is a graduate of The Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine. She had the privilege of adopting a Newfoundland with Subaortic Stenosis, which inspired her to contribute to improving the breed. From that point on, she began breeding Newfs with all clearances and achieved the status of a Breeder of Merit.

Dr. Murphy’s areas of special interest in veterinary medicine include reproductive and internal medicine, dermatology, and preventative health.

Outside of work, she enjoys staying active through workouts and participating in 5K runs. Dr. Murphy also has a passion for reading, attending concerts, engaging in arts and theater, gardening, cheering for Buckeye football, enjoying soccer, and spending free time with her Newfoundlands.

Cary

Manager

Cary joined the Peaceable Kingdom in Spring of 2019 as the Practice Manager. She comes from a vast Veterinary and Animal Welfare background that ranges from local to international experience working for small clinics and nonprofits to a large media conglomerate. Animals and their welfare are her ultimate passion and show with the large number of rescued pets that have passed through her doors over the years and continue to share her home today. Many days she is accompanied to work by her golden retriever, who likes to make an appearance at the front desk to greet clients occasionally, and her most recent adoptee a little senior yorkie who is always dressed to the nines. When not at the Peaceable Kingdom, you can find her caring for her animals or in the woods on a quiet hike.

Hallie

Assistant Manager

Hallie came to us in the beginning of 2022. She joined us originally as a receptionist, but brought with her a vast amount of experience, which included technician skills and inventory management. This led her to moving into our inventory management position in the summer of 2022. As she has continued to grow and learn with us, she accepted the offer of Assistant Manager in 2023. Since then, Hallie has helped our clients, team and patients in so many ways. She has a real passion for the veterinary world, and it shows every day. She is also mom to two adorable guinea pigs, and a rescued cat. A dream of hers is to have a guinea pig rescue some day!

Kelsi

Certified Veterinary Technician

Kelsi has recently joined the Peaceable Kingdom and has had a passion for animals for as long as she can remember. She graduated in 2022 and obtained her Veterinary TechnicianI license. She has spent the last two years in specialty surgery and loved it. Her nights are spent reading and hanging out with a variety of fuzzy children. (A dog, cats, rodents, and also a fish tank!) She has now come home to the Peaceable Kingdom where we see great things for her!

Heather

Veterinary Technician

Heather joined us in the summer of 2021 with her bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine and over 10 years of veterinary experience. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for veterinary medicine with her fellow team members. Heather is a mom to two boys, 8 cats, 3 dogs, 2 rats, and a chinchilla. When not caring for all her babies (human and animal), she loves to read, play soccer, and tennis.

Levi

Resident Cat and Office Mischief Maker!

Meet Mr. Levi Stoltzpuss, the feline force behind the scenes at Peaceable Kingdom. Originally adopted by a local family at the Humane League, fate had other plans for Levi as his first home didn’t quite work out. Rather than heading back to the shelter, Levi found his forever home right here in our office.

Levi has a unique set of skills – from desk organization to expert typing, although his spelling might leave a little to be desired. His real talent, however, lies in keeping everyone on their toes with his mischievous antics. Levi is not just a cat; he’s an essential part of our team, adding a touch of furry charm to the daily office routine!
